About Palace Merano

Palace Merano is a grand, Belle Époque gem in the spa town of Merano, a hotspot for the well-heeled crowd since the 19th century. Inside, it’s all marble floors, glittering chandeliers and ornate artworks, with spacious rooms and suites that overlook gardens, mountain peaks and the neighbouring pastel-hued town.

The retreat is renowned for its signature Revital Method, a personalised health programme that combines detox with preventative measures and healthy ageing strategies. Your stay begins with a detailed medical consultation, which will tailor your treatments, meals and activity plans. Nutrient-rich cuisine complements the programmes – choose from a detox or Mediterranean-inspired set-up.

Wellness facilities include a gleaming white spa with hydro-mud therapy, saunas, hammams, indoor and heated outdoor pools, fitness studios, relaxation lounges, and immersive sensory experiences. In between therapies, guests can explore Merano’s elegant cafés and nearby vineyards, thermal baths and alpine trails.

Palace Merano welcomes children, with a maximum of 12 per week, though the retreat’s tranquil focus means it’s not generally recommended for families. Ball or noisy games are not permitted, and there’s no kids’ club, but babysitting services are available. Children’s dinner is served from 7pm to 7.45pm.



Wellness at Palace Merano

After decades of experience, Palace Merano developed its signature Revital Method, a longevity-focused detox approach rooted in prevention. The method combines functional medicine, energy-based therapies and principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with detoxification and long-term health as its guiding focus.

The medical team is made up of leaders in proactive health, with every stay beginning with a detailed consultation. This allows your programme to be precisely tailored. Depending on your goals, you can work on vitality, stronger immunity, sustainable weight management, enhanced physical performance or gentler ageing.

Five specialist departments work closely together here: Health and Nutrition, Bioenergetics, Hydro-Mud Therapy, Spa and Fitness, and Relax and Balance. An in-house lab with advanced diagnostics underpins the process, supported by ongoing investment in medical technology.

Spa facilities include a fully equipped gym, indoor pool, saunas and hammams, and a women-only sauna area. Guests also have access to relaxation areas, a sensory lounge experience, and a hairdressing corner.

Just so you know, all programmes require a medical consultation, payable at the retreat.

Detox & Longevity treatments are based on the concept of organic "detoxification": it consists of a deep cleansing of the body to free it from the waste that naturally accumulates, also due to an irregular lifestyle and diet. It includes an exclusive nutritional program rich in antioxidants, energetic, hydro-energetic and draining treatments that rebalance circulation and psychophysical energy flows. The treatment is accompanied by constant monitoring by specialized medical personnel. Dedicated to those with overweight problems, circulatory and heart problems, joint and muscle problems, stress and related disorders such as hypertension, anxiety and depression, skin diseases, sleep and digestive disorders and to those who want to strengthen the immune system and prevent 'aging.

The Relax & Balance treatments are designed for those who wish to restore an inner space and experience calm, mental clarity and a deep connection with themselves. Reducing physical and mental stress and tension helps improve sleep quality, stimulates creativity and promotes concentration. The programme offers treatments, such as yoga massage and floating therapy, designed to release tension of the body through psychophysical relaxation and yogic breath awareness.

Sport & Remise en Forme programs offer both the Detox diet and the Biolight diet and are enriched by daily sporting activities and outdoor walks under the supervision of personal trainers. The program is aimed at individuals engaging in intense physical activity, whether as an amateur or at the professional level, and who wish to improve their athletic performance. It begins with a diagnostic phase that includes cognitive tests, functional and biomechanical tests analysing posture and movement quality, blood analyses, and a cutting-edge, highly accurate body densitometry. Based on the test results, a tailor-made program is developed, including one-on-one sessions with an athletic trainer and personal trainer, cryotherapy, and cognitive exercises aimed at improving agility and reflexes. The program is completed with a diet specifically designed for athletes, massages, and hydro-mud therapy. The treatments are supervised by specialized medical personnel.

What’s on the menu?

Food and nutrition form the foundation of the Revital Method at Palace Merano. Menus focus on quality, seasonal ingredients sourced locally wherever possible and prepared using techniques that preserve nutrients and flavour. Portions are smaller but nutritionally dense, with beautiful presentation a given.

You can choose from two dietary options here. The Revital Detox Diet is designed for purification and rebalancing, with a largely vegetarian menu, twice-weekly fish, and dishes rich in antioxidants, vitamins and fibre. Following your medical consultation, this may include a short fasting or liquid-only day. Weight loss is possible, but it’s not the main goal.

The Bio Light Diet, meanwhile, takes inspiration from Mediterranean cuisine, with slightly larger portions and the option of meat, designed to be realistic and sustainable beyond the retreat.

Weekly cooking classes help guests replicate healthy habits at home. Dining includes a breakfast-and-lunch restaurant, a separate dinner restaurant, and a tea lounge serving herbal infusions, mocktails, and barley or chicory coffee. Just so you know, Palace Merano is alcohol and caffeine-free.

The Revital Bio Light Diet focuses on light, Mediterranean-inspired dishes prepared using modern, health-conscious techniques. Portions are balanced and satisfying, making this an easy, realistic approach to take home and maintain long after the retreat ends.

This diet is designed to support deep purification and restore balance within the body, helping to revitalise energy levels. Used alongside the Revital treatments, it focuses on eliminating toxins and excess fluids, supporting both physical wellbeing and mental clarity.

Your accommodation at Palace Merano

This historic health spa has 99 rooms, ranging from comfortable singles to elegant suites. All are bright and generously sized, with marble bathrooms and, in some cases, private balconies. Views vary across the park, surrounding mountains or Merano itself. One of the last remaining Belle Époque hotels in the town, the original building remains intact, with interiors that reflect the grandeur of its past.

LOCATION

Palace Merano is in the historic spa town of Merano, South Tyrol. One of Europe’s most sought-after wellness destinations in the late 19th century, Merano still carries an elegant, old-world feel, with palm-fringed promenades, elaborate villas in pastel colours, and stylish cafés and bistros.

Thanks to its unique alpine microclimate, the town enjoys mild temperatures year-round and surprisingly little snow, despite being framed by dramatic mountain peaks. E-bikes are available to borrow so you can explore the surrounding countryside and trails at your own pace.

Merano benefits from an unique microclimate as it’s located in the most northerly part of the alps. The temperature is generally warm throughout the year and rarely sees snow despite being surrounding by lofty mountain peaks.
